Learn to Fly Gliders
Learn to fly in a glider with professional instruction at Byron Bay Gliding.
We are the main self launching glider training centre in northern NSW and offer introductory and full course packages for beginners as well as pilots wishing to convert their licences to self launching gliders.
Learning to fly gliders is easy - and surprisingly affordable! There is no simpler and safer way than in one of our Motorgliders.
Usually we recommend an AEF (Air Experience Flight) to begin with. You will have the opportunity of flying the aircraft under supervision of an experienced and friendly instructor who will teach you about the basic controls of the aircraft.
This will give you a good idea of what gliding is all about - without having to commit. Prices range from $130 to $195 for a good introduction flight.
If you choose to continue with your training, this flight will be logged in your Pilot Log Book, which you receive with other study material when you sign up for a course.
During your training you will learn about the sky, the thermals, ridge lift and perhaps even the elusive wave over Mt Warning, which we encounter in the winter months when the strong westerly is blowing.
